Skillet Bacon Spread... AKA Bacon Jam!

My brothers were beyond excited to try this product, but I was a little skeptical. The name did not sounds incredibly appealing to me, but I am pretty open minded and thought I would give it a try before I dismissed it. When first receiving the product, I thought it was packaged very nicely but was not too much to look at. First, we decided to try it on toast. I thought it was okay, but my brothers thought it was great. We then decided to cook it in a grilled cheese sandwich and thought that it was absolutely delicious. This tasted like something that you would eat in a restaurant. I think that this product reaches its full flavor when it is cooked with.
So I know everyone is wondering... what exactly is bacon jam?
This is how it is described on their website:
"we take a big bunch of really, really good bacon, and render it down...add a bunch of spices..onions, etc. and let it simmer for about 6 hours…give it a quick puree, blast chill it…and you have bacon jam"
Real ingredients leading to real flavor!

Where can you get it?
Bacon Jam is sold in many different Whole Food Stores, and many states. You can find the list of places on their website. If bacon jam is not sold in your state, it is possible to have it shipped to you.

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who loves to add bacon to their burgers, or loves to cook with it.

Teach them to Tie in No Time!

Learning to tie your shoes can be one of the hardest things for a child to learn. I can remember my mother trying to teach me as a young child and I seemed to never get it. Finally, my mom sat down with me and we worked on it for hours until I could finally tie my own shoes. I wish that the product that I had the opportunity to review was around when I was younger.

Tying your shoes is a smalls skill, but something that everyone needs to know how to do. There is a product that is out there to help kids learning to tie their shoes called Tie Buddies.

Tie Buddies turns shoe laces into pull tabs for small hands by taking the loops out of the picture.A little girl I babysit for has been struggling on how to tie her shoes, so I gave her Tie Buddies. Her parents worked with her on this with Tie Buddies and it made everything so much easier! She learned in no time!

They make Tie Buddies for boys and Tie Buddies for girls

Check out the Tie Buddies website for more information and to order some. They sell for $8.99 plus shipping & handling

Aspirations and New Possibilities in 2011!

I found a blogging opportunity from TwitterMoms and Oprah. They want to know about my aspirations, plans and new possibilities in my life for 2011. 2011 happens to be a big year for me. I plan to graduate college. This is a huge goal and scary time in my life. It can be very scary to know that I have been living a sheltered life for the past 22 years, and it is almost time to be on my own. There are many goals that I hope to accomplish in 2011.  I hope to live a healthy life, find a job, find a house, and be the best daughter/sister that I can possibly be in 2011.

My main goal in life is to become a physical therapist. I would absolutely love to help people. I plan on applying this March. It is very competitive to get into physical therapy school, but I am working as hard as I can so that I may begin the next part of my life. I am working harder than I have ever worked in my life and I am hoping to become a better, more successful person because of it.  I also would love to find a job, so that I make work through school. I am applying at places that would help me to secure a future in physical therapy. Losing weight is also on my priority list. I am trying to eat healthier and exercise more often. This is a daily struggle, but I am hoping that 2011 will be better than 2010. I have joined a gym in order to help me, and I am still searching to find a source of accountability. Getting out of college will also mean losing the place where I am currently living. This means that I also need to find a home. Things seem pretty scary right about now. I am graduating school, finding a job, deciding my future, and finding a new home. 2011 shows to be a promising year. I hope to have a great year filled with growth and learning experiences to share with all of my readers.

I hope that 2011 will be the year that we are all hoping for. The year that we finally take the leap of faith that we need in order to grow to become the people that we want to be. I hope that together we all may hold each other accountable in helping each other to achieve our goals.

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Are you a giver or a taker? I used to love to receive Christmas presents, but now I am learning that I would rather give them. I love how happy it makes someone when they realize that you have been thinking about them. The Marine Corp has a great program known as Toys for Tots. They collect toys and give them out to those that are less fortunate. I saw some of the workers for this program collecting toys and I just thought, what if when we were out Christmas shopping everyone bought one extra toy to donate. That would make a huge impact. One toy might not seem like much, but if we got everyone we knew to donate one toy it could make all the difference in the world. So when you are out Christmas shopping this year just think about adding one toy to your basket. It could help a little boy or girl to have a normal Christmas just like your family has.

A New Blog from a Southern Girl

Hi everyone! My name is Kirby and this is my blog. I wanted to start a blog that talked about the things that I believe in. I believe in giving back to the community through volunteer work and charity. I think that it is essential to help others. I believe in maintaining stress in order to live life to its fullest. I believe in living a healthy lifestyle so that you will live longer for your loved ones. I believe that all of these together things will lead to a rewarding lifestyle. I also believe in giving! In my opinion it is better to give than receive and I love to give products away. Please bare with me as I get this site together, but I am hoping that this will end up being a site that will inspire others to pay it forward and live a healthy, less stressful lifestyle.
